THE NY GIANTS WON THEIR FIRST NIGHT GAME AT POLO GROUNDS

On May 24th, 1940: The New York Giants from the Player’s League won their fist night game at Polo Grounds. They destroyed the Boston Bees 8-1.

THE NEW YORK ISLANDERS CLAIMED THEIR FIRST STANLEY CUP

On May 24th, 1980: The NY Islanders beat the Philadelphia Flyers, finishing 4-2 in the series. They blew their 4-2 lead in the third period, but thanks to goals from Bob Nystrom in overtime, they were able to win the game and series.

BORN ON THIS DAY: PRISCILLA PRESLEY

On May 24th, 1945: Priscilla Presley (formerly Wagner) was born in Brooklyn, NY. Although she is most known for being Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, she was a successful businesswoman and actress. She was the chairwoman of the board of Elvis Presley’s Enterprises from 1982 to 1998.
