CAPTAIN SULLY BECAME A HERO

On January 15, 2009: After taking off from LaGuardia, US Airways Flight 1549’s engine failed after being struck by a flight of birds. Captain Chesley Sullenberger managed to bring the plane down safely in the Hudson River and no one was injured. The incident, known as the miracle on the Hudson, made Caption Sully a national hero.

BORN ON THIS DAY: LISA LISA

On January 15, 1963: Singer Lisa Lisa was born Lisa Velez in Hell’s Kitchen. Lisa Lisa and her band Cult Jam rose to fame in the 1980s. Check out their first hit single below:
