LIVE FROM NEW YORK THE FIRST TELEVISED MLB GAME

On August 26, 1939: An MLB baseball game was televised for the very first time on W2XBS, an experimental station in NYC. The Brooklyn Dodgers took on the Cincinnati Reds for a double-header at Ebbets Field.

PEACE OUT BRONX, ‘SUP JERSEY

On August 26, 1971: The New York Giants announced their plans to leave the Bronx for their own dedicated stadium to be built in New Jersey. Their namesake stadium opened in October of 1976, was demolished in 2010, and was replaced by Met Life Stadium.

BORN ON THIS DAY: MACAULAY CULKIN

On August 26, 1980: Actor and consummate child star, Macaulay Culkin was born in Manhattan. Culkin’s most famous role is Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone series. He made being forgotten by your family look pretty cool and totally made you want to own a Talkboy.
