BROOKLYN BRIDGE’S FIRST JUMPER

On May 19th, 1885: Swimming instructor Robert Odlum jumped from the Brooklyn Bridge on a dare and died, making him the first believed jumping death from the bridge.

BORN ON THIS DAY: NORA EPHRON

On May 19th, 1941: Novelist, screenwriter, and director Nora Ephron was born. She has been nominated three times for the academy award for Best Writing for an Original Screenplay.  She is the author of a number of romantic comedies such as When Harry Met Sally…, Sleepless in Seattle, and Julie & Julia. Happy 62nd birthday Nora!
