PRESIDENT WILSON RETURNED TO NYC
On July 8th, 1919: President Woodrow Wilson returned from the Palace of Versailles after signing the Treaty of Versailles. The agreement was one of the treaties to end World War I, as it terminated the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. Two days after his return, on July 10th, Wilson personally delivered the treaty to the Senate, becoming the first president to address the Senate on the terms of a peace treaty since 1789.

On July 8th 1947: Demolition began for the construction of the United Nations headquarters. Financed by an interest-free loan of $65 million from the United States government, the actual building of the headquarters began in 1948 and ended four years later in 1952.
BORN ON THIS DAY: MICHAEL WEATHERLY, JR.
On July 8th, 1968: Actor Michael Weatherly was born. Best known for his roles as Special Agent Tony DiNozzo on the hit television series NCIS and Logan Cale on Dark Angel, Weatherly began his acting career with a minor role as Theo Huxtable’s roommate on The Cosby Show. Weatherly has been nominated for several awards for his TV performances, including two Saturn Awards and a Teen Choice Award.
