THE SAY HEY KID

On May 24, 1951: Willie Mays is called up to play with the New York Giants (then a baseball team). After beginning his career with the Giants, Mays played for the San Francisco Giants, eventually ending his career playing for the New York Mets. Mays retired with 660 home runs.

THE NEW YORK ISLANDERS’ FIRST STANLEY CUP

On May 24, 1980: The NY Islanders beat the Philadelphia Flyers, finishing 4-2 in the series. Thanks to goals from Bob Nystrom in overtime, they were able to win the game and series, and Bryan Trottier is then named playoff MVP.

 

PRISCILLA PRESLEY

On May 24, 1945: Priscilla Presley was born in Brooklyn, NY as Priscilla Wagner. Although she is most known for being Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, she was a successful businesswoman and actress. She also served as the chairwoman of the board of Elvis Presley’s Enterprises from 1982 to 1998.
