WHOOPI GOLDBERG

On November 13, 1955: Whoopi Goldberg was born Caryn Elaine Johnson in Manhattan. She is one of the few actors to be an EGOT winner, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, & Tony. Having appeared in over 150 films, she has become a New York Icon over the years.


THE CIRCLE OF LIFE BEGAN

On November 13, 1997: The Lion King officially opened on Broadway. The musical is one of the longest running shows in Broadway history, and has grossed over $853.8 million.

UNDER THE HUDSON

On November 13, 1927: The Holland Tunnel opened to traffic, becoming the first Hudson River vehicle tunnel linking New Jersey to NYC. Today, the tunnel carries almost 100,000 passengers annually.
