On January 4, 1865: The New York Stock Exchange opened its first permanent HQ at 10-12 Broad Street. The New York Stock Exchange is the largest stock exchange in the world, and is currently located on Wall Street.
SIDNEY “EL SID” GREEN
On January 4, 1961: Retired basketball player and former coach Sidney Green was born in Brooklyn. After playing for the New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls, among other teams, Green became a coach for Long Island University, University of North Florida, and Florida Atlantic University.
FRANKENSTEIN ON BROADWAY, BUT NOT FOR LONG
On January 4, 1981: The Broadway production of Frankenstein opened and closed on the same day after only one performance. The production is based on the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley. The novel itself is one of the earliest known displays of science fiction. Adaptations in many forms have come from Frankenstein.
