MANET, AND MONET, AND MATISSE – OH MY!

On February 20, 1872: The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened in New York City at its original location, 681 5th Avenue. The Met has moved a couple time since that initial launch and the main building is now nestled on the eastern edge of Central Park. The museum houses iconic works of art (see below) and is a New York icon in its own right.

On February 20, 1924: Artist, author, actress, heiress, and the mother of designer blue jeans, Gloria Vanderbilt was born in New York City. This style icon is also known as a member of the prominent Vanderbilt family and mother of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.
