GREAT WHITE WAY AND BEYOND

On February 14, 1899: New York City’s first mayor, Mayor Robert Van Wyck, signed a law that changed the name of Western Boulevard to Broadway. Western Boulevard was previously the extension of Broadway above Columbus Circle.
