THE SQUID AND THE WHALE

On September 3, 1969: Writer, director, and filmmaker Noah Baumbach was born in Brooklyn. Baumbach made his writing and directorial debut at age 26 with Kicking and Screaming, and has since been involved with many independent and commercial projects such as The Squid and the WhaleMargot at the WeddingMadagascar 3, and Frances Ha.

ONE OF THE TWO AND A HALF MEN

On September 3, 1965: Charlie Sheen was born in New York City. Gaining recognition for his roles in the films Wall Street, Anger Management, and Hot Shots!, Sheen came to play the character ‘Charlie Goodson’ on the TV sitcom Two and a Half Men for 11 years before his rather public breakdown.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WOODS

On September 3, 1989: The original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods closed at the Martin Beck Theater. Much acclaim was attributed to Bernadette Peters’ performance as the Witch and Joanna Gleason’s performance as the Baker’s Wife.
