NEWS ON NEWMAN THE NEWSMAN

On January 31, 1984: New York native Edwin Newman retired from NBC News after a career spanning 35 years.  Newman specialized in breaking news and, in 1963, he made the first announcement on NBC radio of President John F. Kennedy’s death.
