DOWN THE SHORE

On November 11, 1988: Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino was born in Staten Island, New York City. After attending the College of Staten Island and working as a political aide for a NY Assemblyman, Vinny has become known for his antics on the MTV reality show Jersey Shore. The show itself has been highly criticized for its portrayal of Italian-Americans.

 

VETERAN’S DAY PARADE

On November 11, 2012: Former mayor Ed Koch was the grand marshal for New York City’s Veterans Day Parade. The New York City Veteran’s Day Parade is the largest in the nation, with over 25,000 attendees each year. Koch passed away a few months following the parade.

SHOWTIME AT THE ROYAL

On November 11, 1958: The musical La Plume de Ma Tante opened at the Royal Theater. The Broadway production ran for over 800 performances. The show was nominated for several Tony Awards, and also won a ‘Special Tony Award’ for it’s contribution to the theatre.
