ROSS IS BORN

On November 2, 1966: David Schwimmer was born in Flushing, Queens. Having both worked as an actor and director, Schwimmer is best known for his iconic role Ross in the TV sitcom Friends. Still a New York resident, Schwimmer has recently been recognized for his work in the Madagascar film series.

READY, SET, NEVER MIND, DON’T GO

On November 2, 2012: Mayor Bloomberg announced the cancellation of the New York City Marathon in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  The move was considered a historic one as the marathon had occurred every year without interruption since 1970.

 LAUREN VELEZ

On November 2, 1964: Actress Lauren Vélez was born in Brooklyn. Vélez has become best known for her roles in the television series Dexter, in which she played Cpt. María LaGuerta, and in Ugly Betty, in which she played love-interest Elena. Vélez has also done work on Fox’s New York Undercover as well as HBO’s Oz.
