CHANNEL 13 WENT LIVE IN NYC

On September 16, 1962: New Dimensions in Television (WNDT) began broadcast in New York City on channel 13. WNDT gave NYC its first educational station. Today, we know WNDT as 13 WNET New York.

On September 16, 1924: Lauren Bacall was born in the Bronx. Having a long and illustrious career throughout decades, Bacall is most recognized for both her ‘look’ and her roles in To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, and Key Largo. She was, and still is, an American (and New York) icon.

On September 16, 1968: Singer Marc Anthony was born in New York City. After growing up in Spanish Harlem, Anthony recorded numerous albums and hit singles and won two Grammy awards and four Latin Grammy awards. Anthony also had a role opposite Denzel Washington in the acclaimed film Man on Fire.
