THERE’S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS

On May 16, 1946:  Annie Get Your Gun premiered on Broadway at the Imperial Theater, and ran for 1,147 performances. The production also went on for a long run in London. The celebrated play has spawned many revivals as well as film and television adaptations.

 

TRACEY GOLD

On May 16, 1969: Actress Tracey Gold was born. Gold played “Carol Seaver” in the hit television sitcom Growing Pains, and she also regularly appeared in ABC Afterschool Specials for several years.

 

PAN AM HELICOPTER ACCIDENT

On May 16, 1977: A New York Airways helicopter toppled on the rooftop helipad of the Pan Am building on Park Avenue. The helipad was used for transporting passengers between Midtown and the Pan Am Terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport.
