EMPIRE STATE BUILDING SHOOTING

On February 23, 1997: Ali Hassan Abu Kamal, a Palestinian teacher, opened fire on the observation deck of the Empire State Building. He shot and killed one person and wounded six more before killing himself. It was ruled as a premeditated attack after finding notes indicating anger over Palestine and Israel.

NOT GUILTY

On February 23, 2000: Rapper and producer Sean Combs was indicted on charges of bribing a witness. Combs was said to have offered money and jewelry to his driver, and asked him to claim ownership of a gun that was recovered from his car following a shooting at a New York nightclub in 1999. Combs faced trial, and was found not guilty on all charges.

On February 23, 1969: Entrepreneur Daymond John was born in Queens. He is best known as the founder of the clothing brand FUBU, and appears on ABC’s television series, Shark Tank as an investor.
