What’s he done? Rockwell was an illustrator and painter who illustrated covers for The Saturday Evening Post for 47 years. His best-known works include the Willie Gillis series, Rosie the Riveter, Saying Grace (1951), The Problem We All Live With, and the Four Freedoms series.
Why is he an icon? Rockwell was a prolific artist, producing over 4,000 original works in his lifetime. The public loved his often-humorous depictions of American life, which have become iconic works of Americana.
