What’s he done? DeLillo has written many highly acclaimed novels, White Noise, Mao II and The Angel Esmeralda being just a few, and has been a finalist twice for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He has also been awarded the PEN/Faulkner award as well as the PEN/Saul Bellow award for Achievement in American Fiction.

Why is he an icon? DeLillo’s works are known and well regarded throughout the country, and have garnered him a cult-following.  He has largely influenced the postmodern literary style of writing and continues to influence writers to this day.
