We’re going to…

Proper West

What do you get when you mix a night club, a restaurant, and a sports bar? The answer: Proper West. Opened by the owners of Manhattan Proper, Proper West looks to offer something for everyone. It’s a sports bar by day (with enough big screen TVs to rival a Best Buy) and a social club by night (think bottle service and upscale beverages), but always serving up delicious American favorites (don’t miss the Pat Lafrieda burgers). So, if you want to watch the game, have a posh night out, or just have an appetite, head on over to Proper West, and tell them we sent you.

Thug Kitchen

If you’re a potty-mouthed vegan (or anyone looking to eat better that isn’t offended by colorful language), then allow us to introduce you to Thug Kitchen, where you, too, can learn to “eat like you give a f*ck.” You heard right. Promoting “accessibility and community” within the health-concious populace, new recipes are posted on their site, and there’s even a great looking hardcover cookbook available. Thug Kitchen is your verbally abusive guide to eating better and feeling like a “fucking champ.”

We’re watching…

For those of you who haven’t heard — all 12 of you — January 1st marked a very important occasion. No, not New Year’s Day (sorry, creepy Baby New Year). We’re talking about all 10 seasons of Friends being available on Netflix for the first time ever! …how you doin’?

Staff Pick: I’m using…

Dog Wash

This holiday season I made a quick trip back home, but it wasn’t long enough to drive, and my dog, Sadie, couldn’t fly, so I had to board her while I was away. A friend of mine washes her dog at Dog Wash on MacDougal (since they have DIY facilities) and she recommended I check it out. Their pricing is reasonable, the staff is beyond friendly, and it was one of the first times I was traveling and not actually worried about Sadie. During her stay, I received pictures of her playing in daycare and daily updates on how she was doing. When I picked her up, she’d been given a bath (for a reasonable fee) and didn’t even seem to miss me much, which is a good thing (I think). Dog Wash  is now my go to place — Sadie is now even signed up for daycare during the week!
