We’re shopping…

The Penguin Semi-Annual Epic Sale

Whether you’re getting a late start on some new summer threads, or a jumpstart on fall, now’s a great time to do a little (or a lot — we won’t tell) online shopping at Penguin for that classic look. From swimsuits to sweaters, and skirts to sandals, there’s something for everyone…and more importantly, it’s on sale.

We’re watching…

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Following in the footsteps of previous films in the long running and wildly successful Planet of the Apes series, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looks to build upon the success of 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. With a Rotten Tomatoes score in the 90s and visually stunning graphics, it had an even stronger opening than its predecessor.

We’re listening to…

Bird Courage

With an upcoming EP and a their recent album Māia Manu, Brooklyn based folk-trio Bird Courage has a truly unique and rich sound, somewhat reminiscent of the choral rock band, The Polyphonic Spree. Bird Courage will also be performing a sendoff show at Union Pool on July 25th. Kick back and enjoy.

We’re eating…

V{IV} Bar & Restaurant

In a neighborhood already known for it’s selection of Thai cuisine, V{IV} Bar & Restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen is a standout. It doesn’t matter if you’re there to eat, drink, or a little of both, V{IV} doesn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is a far cry from your typical, run-of-the-mill, hole in the wall takeout joint, and the same can be said for the menu. With an impressive selection of signature cocktails, and a dinner menu that features a lot more than Pad Thai (don’t miss the Duck Tamarind or the Nue Nue Jim), arrive hungry…and maybe wear your pants with the elastic waistband.
