Guardians of the Galaxy

The latest Marvel Comic turned blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy boasts an all-star cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy has a near perfect score from Rotten Tomatoes and has all the makings for another summer action blockbuster.

We’re listening to…

“Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, & Nicki Minaj

2014 is shaping up to be the ‘Summer of  Grande.’ After teaming up with Iggy Azalea for “Problem,” Ariana Grande joins Jessie J and Nicki Minaj for “Bang Bang,” a joint single for all three artists, showcasing each. Undeniably catchy, “Bang Bang” is expected to appear on both Jessie J and Ariana Grande’s upcoming albums. Ariana Grande and Jessie J both sound great, but Nicki’s verse might just be our favorite.

We’re buying…

Sole Socks

We’ve all seen it; the results of wearing shorts and shoes can be devastating. Ankle socks and loafers, fighting with ‘no show’ socks, or worse yet, the smell coming from the guy going ‘commando’ in his Sperry’s. Thankfully, there’s a solution for those who like to rock the sockless look but don’t want to smell like it. Another Kickstarter success story, Sole Socks were designed to “eliminate the need to wear socks,” and are moisture (and thereby odor) eliminating insoles, allowing you to wear any shoe you like sans-socks worry free. As an added bonus, the inserts are also pretty comfortable.

In Technicolor by Jesse McCartney

Ok, ok, we know what you’re thinking, but hear us out! Jesse McCartney’s (yes, that Jesse McCartney) new album stays true to the teen heartthrob crooner stylings that made him (reasonably) famous in the first place, but now tempered with a decidedly more mature sound. If you close your eyes, you’ll hear the obvious influences of Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake, and maybe even find it in your heart to overlook that whole Dream Street thing. We can neither confirm nor deny that In Technicolor has been playing on repeat at the New York Natives office.
