On May 5, 1891: Carnegie Music Hall hosted its first performance, a concert conducted by Tchaikovsky. In 1962, Carnegie Hall was designated a National Historic Landmark.

DAMN YANKEES

On May 5, 1955: The original production of Damn Yankees made its Broadway debut. The musical enjoyed a 1,019 performance run, and was awarded seven Tonys, including Best Musical.
